One of my great joys as a parent is seeing my children develop their own love for God’s Word. We’ve done some things along the way to help with that. We read Bible stories as a family every night. In the morning I read a Bible verse and a selection from a children’s devotional book and pray with them before we head to school. And of course they are involved in church and see their parents engaged in studying the Bible. As they’ve learned to read, the oldest two have enjoyed taking their turns reading the Bible during our family devotional times.
But as with any goal, tools are important. When our tinies were still tiny, we started out with children’s Bible story books. Some of them I liked. Some I didn’t. And a couple we quite literally loved to pieces. As the kids have gotten older, we’ve transitioned to reading from the Bible itself, but our youngest still needs the simplicity of a well-told Bible story. Is there one book that can meet the needs of our growing family?
Enter the ESV Family Devotional Bible. The Family Devotional Bible clearly and simply retells 130 key Bible stories. The language is clear and understandable, without a lot of extra added dialogue or dramatic additions like some Bible storybooks. What makes the Family Devotional Bible unique is that the book also contains the entire text of the ESV Bible. Each Bible story is located at the place in the Bible text where the stories occur, and each story also includes a suggested Key Verse and family discussion questions. The full color artwork is gorgeous, and I really like having the Bible stories and the Bible text together in one volume.
And I’ve got a giveaway for you. One lucky reader will receive her very own copy of the ESV Family Devotional Bible. So enter already–it might be you.
